LAKESIDE, FRIMLEY GREEN

Well, what an excitng day for me. I got to sing at the UK's top cabaret venue Lakeside at Frimley Green. It was a full showcase day with lots of acts, and I was allotted a 30 minute spot. I had fantastic help from one of the acts - STEVE HANKS- who set up my sound through his system and made me feel comfortable. Thanks Steve !
I did most of the songs from my CD , and the reception I had was fantastic, I was quite emotional and completely elated afterwards. I also sold out of my first batch of CDs, and we've had good enquiries for gigs in the future.
If you were there please give us your opinion, because I'm by no means perfect, and always looking to improve.
I felt really glad for the support of my family, most of whom were at the gig - Mum, Dad, Lottie, Grandad Dave (& Ed Thrillbillie too!)

QUICK DRAW FESTIVAL 2011

Another great day at Quick Draw Festival, Earls Barton. I had such a good time singing new songs. This year I came back as a 12 still enjoying her country music. It was really good seeing people dancing to the songs I was singing. The show was late afternoon, and I expected most people to disappear for their evening meal, but I had a really good crowd, and lots there again from last years festival.
I had to do a lot of practice for this festival as of the majority of my songs were new. And I am proud to say that I didn’t have a script this time! I had an idea what I was going to say, but no script!
The first time I sang at the Quick Draw festival I didn’t really move around a lot because I was too nervous really. This year I was thinking, ‘Blow it, I’m going to move around as much as I like!’ I felt much more comfortable on stage and I really enjoyed myself.
Before I went on stage, the act ‘Fools Gold’ was on and they were amazing! In their set they sang one song which I performed too. But these things happen, and as long as the line dancers are happy and dancing, it’s all good.
I have to say that the sound crew form M.T.Allan Audio were very helpful, and made sure I was comfortable with the onstage sound. It really makes a huge difference. Thanks guys!
I was so happy to be asked to perform at the Quick Draw again. Everyone is so friendly. Thank you Charlie and everyone who has supported me throughout performing, especially my family.

Reviews:

I played my first festival in August - it was also the first  gig i had been booked at on my own (without being on stage at my grandad's gig (The Thrillbillies). Understandably, as an 11 year old just starting off, I was VERY nervous. Also, although I practice a lot, I don't have much idea of what to say between songs, so my grandad  advised me and helped me to script what I wanted so say in a proper way, without coming over as too much of a brat.
So I was really surprised at the tone of one reviewer in a magazine being quite sarcastic saying 'she read her script well' Well, yes I did have a script , and I did have a prompt in front of me. I've been brought up to behave as well as I can in front of an audience, and i wanted to present a good show on my first 'go' on my own. I would also point out to the reviewer that even the C.M.A. awards show is scripted, along with every professional show the world over - from my favourite JLS to Les Miserables to Michael Ball to Martina McBride etc etc . So I don't apologise for being scripted, I' m proud to have my family help me, and I really really enjoyed the festival. Thank you Charlie & Linda, grandad, mum & dad and everyone who attended and who were so nice to me.
